Who I Am
Maria Schulz
Coach, Trainer, Human Being.
Hi, I’m Maria, and if you’ve landed here, you’re probably tired of the same old “About Me” pages. So let me be upfront: I’m here to walk alongside you on your journey, exactly how you need it—no frills, no constant perfection, but with lots of heart, humor, and genuine interest.
Born and Raised in Berlin: I grew up in a city that will always be a part of me. Berlin is loud, chaotic, vibrant—and, if you look closely, also calm in its own way. These contrasts mirror my own life. I learned early on how complex and yet simple life can be. Words and emotions have fascinated me since childhood, growing up in an environment where communication was often challenging. Maybe you can relate?
My Journey
At 17, I became a mother. And yes, that changed everything. Suddenly, I wasn’t just responsible for myself but for a little, wonderful being. It wasn’t always easy, but it helped me grow. I wanted to give my daughter a better life than I often had myself. So, I began to confront my own patterns, fears, and strengths.
My daughter was determined to have cats and promised to take care of them. Well, now I live with two tomcatswho, with their relaxed but moody attitudes, constantly remind me that not everything in life can be planned. I’ve learned to let go—especially when it comes to scratched furniture. 😅
From Business to Psychology: I started my professional journey traditionally: training in business administration, working in local government, the JobCenter, and pharmaceutical research. It was all “okay,” but something was missing. I wanted to understand what truly drives people.
In 2014, I began studying business administration and organizational psychology, opening the door to a world that increasingly fascinated me. Mediation, coaching, and diversity training brought me closer to my goal: helping people find their own path and break through the inner barriers that keep them from living freely.
Why I Do What I Do
In spring 2022, I reached another milestone: becoming a certified EMDR coach. This method amazed me with its depth. EMDR doesn’t just process trauma—it creates space for healing in ways I’d never experienced before. In autumn 2023, I added hypnosis to my toolkit, diving deeper into the subconscious.
And then there’s TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises), a method I love for its unique focus on the body. Our bodies carry so much that our minds have forgotten. TRE allows the body to release old tensions, often unlocking surprising ease and freedom.
What Sets Me Apart
I could list all my certifications here, but that’s not really the point, is it? What truly sets me apart is my understanding of how it feels to be stuck or unable to move forward—no matter how hard you try. I know this from personal experience. What I’m particularly good at is self-reflection. I constantly challenge myself and love uncovering ways to improve, especially in communication.
Nonviolent communication is close to my heart. While it doesn’t always work perfectly in real life, I strive to approach others mindfully.
Speaking of imperfection: humor is a huge part of my life. Yes, I’m the queen of bad jokes.😄 I adore silly humor and can laugh at it for hours. I bring this humor into my work, too. Nothing has to be perfect, and tackling things with a pinch of humor often makes them easier and less stressful. Coaching isn’t a serious “I have to get everything right” process—it can and should be enjoyable.
